25-9-08 LYN CAIN TOURNAMENT 2008
Netballers score over £40,000 in 14 years
In 1995, players from Rover & Bournville Netball Clubs created a new open netball tournament in memory of a team-mate, Lyn Cain, who died tragically from cancer, the day after her 38th birthday.
Fourteen years on, The Lyn Cain Tournament, attracts 24 teams from across the UK, who play in honour of Lyn’s memory, whilst raising money to help fight and support people affected by cancer.
This year funds were raised for and as a result of the excellent support, the organizers Karen Lacey, Lynne Todd and Sue Edwards are delighted to announce a fantastic sum of £5,000 the highest amount raised in any year, which brings our total fundraising since 1995 to £40,750.00
Lyn’s parents, Derek & Moira, were once again there to support the day presenting the winners trophies and £5,000 cheque to Karen Bevan on behalf of Cancer Research UK, directed to the Institute of Cancer Studies based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
