Umpiring News - Rules Review
Sheelagh Redpath (Officiating Manager) and Bill Alexander (International Umpire) will be visiting the Walsall Campus Sports Centre, Wolverhampton Univesity, Gorway Road, Walsall WS1 3BD on 28th June 2008 to conduct a rules review. All are invited as the rules will effect all team and match officials, including scorers, table officials and coaches. The review will be fun a interactive session, beginning at 10am and will finish at approximately 12.30pm.

Profiling of Umpires
All those wishing to attend any of our umpiring courses or tests must have completed an Umpires Profile form. This is to ensure we are to provide you with up to date information. In addition we are able to monitor your beginners award and the date you need to retake this award or progress to your C Award.

AENA Beginner's Umpires Award

Who Should Attend: Club Players, Little League Managers and Primary School Teachers. Must be over the age of 14. This is a basic course and little experience of umpiring is required.
This qualification has to be renewed every three years. The alternative would be to take the 'C' Award qualification (no expiry date).
Please note applications for the course will not be accepted without a completed Umpire's Profile form

AENA Beginner's Award Written Test
A written assessment is required to pass the Beginners award. The cost of which is included in the course fee.
Next written test available: Tuesday 24th June 2008 - 7pm Birmingham Sport Centre, Highgate Road, Birmingham
AENA Beginner Award Practical Test
Those wishing to become qualified should be affiliated to AENA.
The theory test paper is normally taken in the week following the course. The practical test is normally organised 2 - 3 times per year.

Who Should Attend?
Affiliated members of AENA (either individual or via schools), club players, Little League personnel and Teachers. Those with umpiring experience either at League or AENA Beginner level.

AENA 'B' Award Umpiring Course

Who Should Attend?
Those with either one year experience as a C Award Umpire or have been talent identified.

scUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children
We advise that all umpires, scorers and timekeepers working with children attend the Sports Coach UK [scUK] Safeguarding and Protecting Children course

Emergency Aid for Netball umpires and coaches
Who should attend?
A must for all sports coaches, a five hour Emergency Aid Course with an emphasis on sports injury.
The course covers:
- Assessment of an unconscious person
- Recovery position
- Rescue breathing (mouth to mouth, etc)
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Choking
- Basic treatment on bleeding
- Recognition and basis treatment of fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
Taken by a Health & Safety Executive approved tutor
