Tournament 2009

Congratulations to Deloitte Tax for winning this years Handicapped tournament. On a cold but dry evening they faught off fierce competition to beat Wragge and Co 15 - 14 on handicap in the final. What a nail biter!

Tournament Winners

Having played, umpired or spectated in nine rounds of games in torrential rain with no shelter, the proposal to move the semi-finals and finals to another date was met with howls of delight by everyone involved. The four teams that made it through to the semis, B'ham Sport, Talbots, Teachers Pets and GVA Grimley, returned two weeks later to re-commence battle in glorious sunshine. B'ham Sport and Teachers Pets reached the final which was a tough battle with Teachers Pets coming out the winners on handicap.

Well done everyone!

Wionter League update

The floodlights at Shenley are finally all operational and the first half of the winter season is underway properly now. Apologies to those of you that had games postponed, sometimes at short notice.

There are still a few teams unbeaten in all three divisions, meaning we could see some hard faught clashes in November. New comers Teachers Pets (aka Lordswood Girls School) are notching up some terrific scores in Division Three but their opposition keep smiling.

Floodlights ready for Winter League

Work will start on 23rd August erecting four further stantions to the netball courts at Shenley. This will ensure that all Works League games can be played on Wednesday evenings.

The deadline for entries to the Winter League has been extended to 7th Sept and games will start on Wednesday 26th September. All registration forms and holding cheques must be received before you will be entered into the league. Please make sure that all teams send two separate cheques as it is very difficult for Shenley to issue refunds.

Winter League 2007/8

As most of you will be aware the floodlights at Shenley have beeen out of action for almost a year now. I have been assured that they will be repaired in time for the start of the Works Winter League in September. However currently there is only one floodlit court which is not ideal in view of the amount of teams wishing to enter the Winter League. Quotes are currently being obtained to add more stantions so that the first three courts can be used. if Shenley are succesful in increasing the number of flood lit courts the league will run solely on a Wednesday evening. If however only the existing lighting is repaired the league will have to be spread over two or possible three nights of the week in order to fit in all of the fixtures.

Application Forms for the Winter League will be sent out to all teams as soon as a decision has been made.

Tornament News

WRAGGE WIN THE 2007 HANDICAPPED TOURNAMENT WITH SECOND LOWEST HANDICAP.

Wragge & Co's walked away (well they will do when it is engraved) with the Tournament trophy on May 2nd despite only having a handicap of 1.5!!! Qualifying as the best second placed team in their section they beat the new Team Ernst & Young in the semi final and had to slug it out with Barclays who had the same handicap in the final, eventually coming out on top 6 goals to 4. Great effort girls and well done to Barclays who battled all of the way.

The Final run in

With one week to go of a difficult season dogged by major distruptions I can confirm that all games are now at Shenley and the season is due to finish on 25th April.

B'ham Sport are on track to become Works League Champions for the second year with Wragges much improved team chasing them all of the way.

Fixtures for the Summer League will be drawn up and sent out this week. We have 14 teams teams confirmed and a couple of clubs yet to confirm their intentions. (Deadline Wednesday 18th!!!!)

We currently have 16 teams entered in to the Tournament on 2nd May including six new teams. A handicap system will apply based on teams performances in the Winter League and information received from new teams (how many club players etc..)

Update

Results are now up to date with the exception of one Div 3 game . Results will updated weekly. There is still a hold up with repairs to the floodlights at Shenley so it is looking increasingly likely that we will remain at Nechells until at least the Easter School Holidays.

Talbots Solicitors have confirmed that they will be taking the place of The Vayner for the second half of the season.

Reminder: Tournament on 2nd May. This year the event will be handicapped to give everyone a reasonable chance of winning. Application forms will be sent to all team secretaries next week.(some teams have already entered).

Battle for runners up spot

Both PWC and The Womens Hospital go into the final week of matches on 38 points. The runners up title could go to either team but PWC have the superior goal difference. Neither team can afford to slip up. PWC play the ever improving Matrics who notched up their first win this week and The Womens Hospital play West Mids Deaf.

Birmingham Sport have run away with the league again but there has been a huge improvement in the standard of the other teams in the league. Barclays are undeafed in their last five games and will be no push over next season.

Remember to send back you Application forms and fees for the Winter League by Friday 1st September.

Winter League

Registration Forms for the forth-coming Winter League have now been sent out to all existing teams.

There has been interest from new teams so it looks as if the new league will have to be run over two nights, Monday and Wednesday. Same time slots, 6.30 or 7.30pm and a break from Mid November til February to hopefully avoid the worst of the winter weather.

Registration forms for new teams will be posted on the 'How to Enter' page.

Great win for "The Womens"

The Womens Hospital continue to improve and came out convincing winners against West Midland Deaf last night. KLMs regular training is also paying off, beating one of the leagues new teams Barclays by 15 goals to 4. B'ham Sport were impressive again beating Matrics 34, 13. In Division Two Rosary beat St Bedes in a tougher game than the score implies, eventually winning 24, 12 and Claires scored a staggering 31 goals in their game against Kennet.

The two undefeated sides in Division One met last Wednesday with reigning champions B'ham Sport coming out winners 21. 9 against PWC X Rosary continue on their winning run in Division Two beating St Bedes 21. 15. Kennet managed to notch up their first point despite losing 4goals to 8 to PWC Y. Fantastic effort both teams!!!!!
